As creepy as the concept of two dolls sharing one waist is the more I think about it, topsy-turvy dolls have an interesting history. :o They were originally made before the Civil War on plantations. One of the theories was that slave children weren't allowed to keep black dolls, so they flipped it to the white doll when the master was around.

Nowadays, you usually see them re-enacting fairy-tales, which is how I remember seeing a few of them. Like this Cinderella one, whose flipside looks a LOT like Charlotte from Princess and the Frog. Speaking of the Frog Prince, we'll take it one step further. Wasn't Dolly the Sheep from Die Anstalt: Toy Psychiatry a topsy-turvy/reversible doll too?

So how would a sentient reversible doll work? Would it be a Jekyll/Hyde thing? Or would it be two separate beings like co-joined twins? Does the doll walk using their other half's hands, like a headstand? Is only one half animate at a time? What if people don't know you're a topsy-turvy doll? I think you'd get away with a lot of sneaky stuff. You know, it reminds me an awful lot about a certain blonde-haired girl with a ponytail and green sweater, and--

I'd be surprised if no one's made a Poniko/Uboa reversible doll yet.

Both of these work, but I like the two separate beings part better.

Does the doll walk using their other half's hands, like a headstand?

IT COULD BE LIKE JUDAS FROM "THRILL KILL"!

First thought. Sorry.

The separate beings thing does sound more realistic/interesting. I think I'll stick with that. :o

Oh. My. God. XD NOW THAT IS SPECIAL.
