Remember when I said I was trying to look for the Broadway soundtrack of the flopped Raggedy Ann musical? I got some good (bad?) news! The guy who played some songs for me on Livestream uploaded them all for download!

The zip includes the demo and "official" versions. I haven't listened to the entire thing yet (I'll traumatize myself another day), but I jumped to "Rag Dolly" 'cause that was the one I was most curious about. The musical only shares two songs from the movie, "Blue" and "Rag Dolly." The latter has different lyrics, so you end up having three (four if you count the awful "Disco Dolly") versions of the same song.

"Rag Dolly" in the movie is cute, but it worked better as an instrumental. It doesn't tell us anything new about Raggedy Ann (whose character was already established through "I Look (And What Do I See?")) and it didn't do anything to advance the plot except for the Captain trying to fix his spyglass, and his sneeze fit interruptions were annoying. Broadway!"Rag Dolly" on the other hand? It's about a sad and lonely Raggedy Ann questioning her worth as a toy. No kidding.

The version I'm sharing the lyrics for is the demo, which had an intro that got snipped from the final version. I uploaded the song as a single Mp3 so you don't have to wait forever on the zip. Feel free to correct me on lyrics, nom. Behold! Raggedy Ann at her low point while stuck in Dr. Medlock's lab. :o

I'm just a ragdolly... )

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell?
Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cold breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here

Talking to Nam about Raggedy Ann & Andy is so much fun. ;; I'm tempted to draw stuff or something, but mwaaa, my art is so ugly. XD I'm trying to avoid thinking about my Writer's Test for a while 'cause I'm at this stage where I hate everything I write again and it doesn't help I'm still stuffy and have a slight cough. I have a library book due, but I'll have to ask Mom or Dad to drive me 'cause I'm scared of going out in the heat. It's kind of a long walk to the library and back, and last time I came home, I felt kinda sick and feverish. I was worried I'd pass out from overheat or something, even though I wore a hat and sunglasses. D:

I haven't been to VDex in AGES. I'm going around catching chocolate Mareeps for the heck of it, haha. XD

Day 9. A song/artist you wish more people knew about

Iris is probably the most obscure artist on my flist, and I wouldn't have heard about them if it wasn't for Zar. I know at least one other listener on my flist as well, so I'm gonna spend this post talking about Suzanne Vega. It's all live on YouTube, so instead of links, have an Mp3 post. Yay! :D

I came across her work on a Pokemon Sapphire FST, and a song for the Magma/Aqua orb was an interesting little tune called Small Blue Thing. It was pretty and atmospheric, and its subject not quite like anything I've heard before:

Today I am a small blue thing
Like a marble or an eye
With my knees against my mouth
I am perfectly round
I am watching you

I ran into Suzanne Vega several more times on [livejournal.com profile] fst after that, with range going from a similar premise to Small Blue Thing (If I Were a Weapon, Machine Ballerina) songs of quiet-but-strong-resolve (Solitude Standing, Marlene on the Wall, Rock in This Pocket (Song of David)), some that were sad (The Queen and the Solider, Night Vision) and others that were strange, interesting and/or fun (Blood Makes Noise, Stockings) Then I froze at the name of a particular song: Institution Green. Long ago, I read a disturbing fic by Sad Mudokon about Shy Guys that was titled, Golden Saffron or Institution Green?, whose ending was left for interpretation whether the protagonist found salvation in his brutal death or had gone mad from the trauma. The second I saw the title, I thought, "Holy shit, it's that fic." and wondered if Sad Mudokon had this song in mind while she was writing. :o And I, urm, was playing this song after a super rough emotional period of my life, so it was a surreal experience. <.<;;;

I'm amazed how well EB0's vocal soundtrack goes with Ann & Andy. Heh.

here_inmyhead: Raggedy Ann as animated in "Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure." (1977) (Plusle & Minun :: Happy Dance)
James and I went to see CATS last night. In a nutshell, it was about of cat-people leaping around singing, "WE ARE CAAAAAAAATS WE ARE JELLICLE CAAAAAAAAAAATS" for over thirty minutes and not doing much else. :P There were a few good numbers like Memory, and I'll 'prolly give them another chance later (the only song I heard prior to seeing CATS was Sarah Brightman singing Macavity, and she did it way better. :P) but overall, we just... didn't get it. Probably due that we couldn't really hear what the actors were singing (it's either them or the auditorium has awful sound) or who knows, maybe we just didn't care. The good news is that James borrowed Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot from his boss, so I read him all the poems while he drove me home. We both agreed the poetry was much better. :D At least I can take even more humor from Dad's bitching about CATS and Andrew Lloyd Weber. XD ("I had to see it twice." "Well, as expected in the newspaper today, they had pictures of those stupid cats. Yuck!")

Plus we got a flier for the next show coming up in May: Trans-Siberian Orchestra performing Beethoven's Last Night. Fuck yes. *-*

Dad and I auditioned for The Fully Monty musical at our local theater. I didn't get anything (I had a great audition, I just looked too young for the female parts. XDD;;;) , but he got the role of Tony Giordano and the Minister. EFF YEAH. :D

Day 2. A song/artist that never fails to make you dance

Dance Dance Revolution. O WAIT. Oingo Boingo's good at getting me on my feet too, particularly No One Lives Forever. I seem to be a sucker for Halloween party music. If a skeleton can dance to it, so will I. So stuff like Move Your Dead Bones by Dr. Reanimator and classics like Monster Mash and Purple People Eater wins me over. :D And one other song I like that isn't Halloweenie, but...

Beck - Timebomb. A few times I tuned in to Radio PSI (???) at Starmen.net and chatted with a few people along with Blooopie, it was totally worth it. People requested music from a DJ, and this song was one of them. :o Love at first listen. Just... bah-bah-bah, bah-bah bah-da-da-da-da bah-bah-bah... It's exactly the kind of NES-like electronica I adore. 8)

Hello~

here_inmyhead: Raggedy Ann as animated in "Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure." (1977) (N/Touko :: It'll Be Okay!)
Greetings, everyone I added from the recent friending meme at [livejournal.com profile] ontdpokemon! My name is Puri. Like Buzz Lightyear, I come in peace. I just caught up with Black Adventures, which is hysterical as always, though I'm starting to feel sorry for N right now. :o If I'm not distracted by shiny stuff, I'll probably watch more My Little Pony tomorrow. Friendship is magic, after all~

Like Shauntal, I'm a novelist. I'm currently tackling a book and aiming to get published. Which kinda makes me sound pretentious and annoying, but I've got dreams, man. ;; That, and I want to raise/EV train all of my favorite Pokemon so I can organize as many strategies and teams as I want~ ♥ Shipping is fun and delicious as long as nobody loses an eye. Especially BL. Mmm, BL.

Do you like Queen? I hope you do. 'Cause this song's in my head and I think it's very sexy. With a side dish of trippy. 8)

here_inmyhead: Raggedy Ann as animated in "Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure." (1977) (N/Touko :: Ice Cream)
Good News: James and I are watching Gurran Lagaan~ ♥ I'm also letting him borrow my SNES so he could teach himself to play Tetris Attack and Wario's Woods, and we've been playing Earthbound together and just beat Frank Fly. :3 I've been trying to get us to Happy Happy Village as soon as possible! As much as Pyramid Head's part of our daily conversations, poor Silent Hill 2's gonna have to wait. We were having trouble learning how to kick but we figured it out now. Take that, BDSM cockroach zombies! :o

Bad News: I've been getting a weird sort of cramp in my right pelvic region. Not cool. It makes it hard to get back to sleep. D: Though it's gone now, I still want to talk to Dad about it. Probably nothing, but still.

Once again, the good outdoes the bad. Yay! :D

Since I'm blathering on endlessly about my novel and not giving much information at the same time, I'm going to be generous and give you guys music. Yay! :D

It's been a while since we last had an Mp3 post! )

I'm hesitant to really talk about my NaNoNovel '10 much except with close friends, mainly because I don't want to snuff my creativity and/or enthusiasm for a pivotal scene between two characters in the middle of the book. The song is erm, like a triple entrende.

I wait at the table
And hold hands with weeping strangers
Wait for you
To join the group

The tambourine
Jingle-jangle
The medium roams and rambles
Not taken in
I break the circle

I want this man to go away now

With a kiss
I'd pass the key
And feel your tongue
Teasing and receiving

With your spit
Still on my lip
You hit the water

Him and I in the room
To prove you are with us too

He's using code that only you and I know
This is no trick of his
This is your magic

I'd catch the cues
Watching you
Hoping you'd do something wrong

Everybody thinks you'll never make it
But every time
You escape:

'Rosabelle believe,
Not even eternity
Can hold Houdini!'

"Rosabelle, believe!"

Through the glass
I'd watch you breathe
("Not even eternity--")
Bound and drowned
And paler than you've ever been
("--will hold Houdini!")

With your life
The only thing in my mind--
We pull you from the water!

(Houdini!)

You ("Hou-di-ni...")
And I
And Rosabelle believe

~Houdini~

In other news... my mind is blown. I didn't pay much attention to the Inception theme before, but shit. Oh shit oh shit oh shit.

Also, Piers Anthony is a sexist creep and I'm glad I never read any of his books. Including this one, where a five-year-old voluntarily has sex with a grown man and it's treated as a GOOD thing.

Visual access to underwear - Because underwear is so closely tied to sexuality (even more so than nudity in Xanth), men become automatically "freaked out" when they view panties. This is made a common joke, most prominently in the novel The Color of Her Panties, and is often used by women to gain advantage over men. Panties only carry their effects when worn, but because of their nature, they are forbidden to be shown to children.

WHAT. WHAT.

Day 23: Favorite racing game

HI IM DAISY! HI IM DAISY! )

Day 24: The one awesome game idea that still hasn’t been done

Nothing at the top of my head, so how about more of an awesome game idea? More creepy dream exploration games (L.S.D. I'm talking official stuff, not just freeware) and lighthearted RPGs that poke fun of themselves (Mother series) please.

Day 25: The most hilarious game you’ve ever played

Earthbound of course. Also I Wanna Be the Guy! because of the twist it added to the Castlevania scene with Dracula. ;D

Day 26: A game you’ve left sitting at the final boss fight and still haven’t returned to

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, but I don't like it so I don't care, haha~ ♥ So I'll go with Startropics. Talk about a difficulty spike! The final level in the spaceship is haaaaaaaaaard. D:

Day 27: A game that you wish you could play, but suck at

Classic Megaman. I beat several of the bosses in MM2 (or was it MM1?), but ugh, it's so frustrating to play. My fingers were feeling it. D:

I hold your hand in mine, dear
I press it to my lips
I take a healthy bite
From your dainty fingertips

My joy would be complete, dear
If you were only here
But still I keep your hand
As a precious souvenir

The night you died I cut it off
I really don't know why
For now each time I kiss it
I get bloodstains on my tie

I'm sorry now I killed you
For our love was something fine
And 'till they come to get me
I shall hold your hand in mine

Making money in VDex is haaaard. D: Dungeons are such a pain and take forever to go through. The enemies stop giving you stat raises, you get billions of spells while healing/keys/good equipment allude you (either you break the chest or there's crap inside. @.@;;;) and the boss is eons more powerful than you, which often results in a hit-and-run strategy. Auuuuuuugh. If any of you have VDex, let me know and I'll add you back! It looks like a few (including Blu) found me first. :)

WHICH HOGWARTS HOUSE DO I BELONG IN?

I think I know who I am already, but eh, nice to have reassurance.

Sorry for the lack of activity lately, I've been depressed. Still am, actually. Finished watching a Let's Play of Silent Hill 1 if that tells you anything. It's like I want to see all sugary and cute things leak with horror lately. But I'll keep an eye on the Loveless threads on [livejournal.com profile] pokedressing and make sure I don't fall behind! :o

I hope I didn't take two Zolofts instead of one. Maybe I'm worrying too hard about this, but who knows. I don't want to accidently overdose because I've been forgetful. :/

The rules are, list seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs.

1. Ben Folds Five - Magic
2. Vienna Teng - Nothing Without You
3. Kate Bush - And Dreams of Sheep
4. The Dresden Dolls - Sex Changes
5. Tattletale - Glass Vase, Cello Case
6. Julien-K - System De Sexe
7. Adam Lambert - Fever

Extra: Rasputina - All Tomorrow's Parties
Kate Bush - Mother Stands For Comfort
Regina Spektor - Machine
Metric - Help I'm Alive

I feel too much like Madotsuki sometimes. Other than that, I must be so dull. I feel dull.

Thanks for your recs on the Harvest Moon games last post! There's been family drama and that's why I haven't been posting lately, but thankfully, it's all cleared up now. Delcat had this song on her Yume Nikki FST for Poniko/Uboa. Looking at the lyrics again, it makes me think of Movie!Darkrai too. :o And Destroyshipping, in a way.

Angel
I can see myself in your eyes
Angel
Won't you feel for me from your heart
Do return my heart to me
No don't insist
I'm already hurt

Elephant girl
It was an accident unfortunate
Angel
Threw me like a rubber man
Aiming for the ground
Why amuse yourself in such way?
No don't insist
I'm already hurt

Lay me down on the ground softly, softly
Don't remove my head hurts much too much

You never return it
Well I wouldn't miss it
I shed no tears for broken me
You never know it my peace of mind
Now inside and outside are matching

You never return it
Well I wouldn't miss it
I shed no tears for broken me
You never know it my peace of mind

Why amuse yourself in such way?

No don't insist
I'm already hurt

If you never return it
Will it break your wings?
Will you shed no tears for broken me?

I hold the record for being one of the few people who DIDN'T see Watchmen (in theatres, anyway. XD). But goddamn, this didn't stop me from laughing my head off at this FST. Notable Tracks: Arrogant Worms - History is Made by Stupid People, Tom Lehrer - The Masochism Tango, Inner Circle - Bad Boys (you know, the theme from Cops? THAT Bad Boys), Napoleon XIV - They're Coming to Take Me Away, Tom Lehrer (again) - We Will All Go Together When We Go

For something serious, I wanted to say I was also impressed with Comfortably Numb as sung by Dar Williams. Most covers I've listened to lately were pretty much blah, but Williams' voice is clear and resonant, and I was surprised that AniDifranco was doing backup vocals! :o Fits though. I hear him, before I go to sleep
And focus on the day that's been
I realize he's there
When I turn the light off and turn over

Nobody knows about my man
They think he's lost on some horizon

And suddenly I find myself
Listening to a man I've never known before
Telling me about the sea
All his love, 'til eternity

Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes
Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes

He's very understanding
And he's so aware of all my situations
And when I stay up late
He's always waiting, but I feel him hesitate

Oh, I'm so worried about my love
They say, "No, no, it won't last forever"

And here I am again, my girl
Wondering what on earth I'm doing here
Maybe he doesn't love me
I just took a trip on my love for him

Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes
Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes

Ever since the "It Couldn't Last" theme was announced, I knew I had to make an FST for Giegue, Maria and George of Earthbound 0/Mother fame. Before I begin, I want to give special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] blackjackrocket for listening to me babble about obscure NES titles and providing suggested tracks. If it weren't for her, this would've only been a Giegue & Maria FST. Fanart credits for the covers go to Morphine and the talented artist who drew the image for the back cover. (It may have been S'LABO since their sketch styles are similar, but I don't want to give credit to the wrong artist. If anyone can enlighten me, it'd heavily be appreciated!)

Three guesses what quote the FST is named for. The first two don't count.

Oh Vivica I wish you well
I watch you burn in human hell
No sleeping pills, no old tattoos will save you now

He'll never change, he's just too vague
He'll never say you're beautiful
Oh Vivica I wish you well, I really do
I really do

The apple falling from the tree
She's rotten and so beautiful
I'd like to keep her here with me and tell her that she's beautiful
She takes the pills to fall asleep and dream that she's invisible
Tormented dreams, she stays awake; recalls when she was capable

Oh Vivica I wish you well
I watch you sit, I watch you dwell
No crooked spine, no torn up rag will save you now
He'll never change, he's not that brave
He'll never say you're beautiful
Oh Vivica I wish you well, I really do
I really do

The apple falling from the tree
She's rotten and so beautiful
I'd like to keep her here with me and tell her that she's beautiful
She takes the pills to fall asleep and dream that she's invisible
Tormented dreams, she stays awake; recalls when she was capable

I wish you well

Oh Vivica I wish you well
I'll sit right here, I'll never tell
No tender scar, no twist of fate will save you now
He'll never change, he's just not there
He'll never say you're beautiful
Oh Vivica I wish you well, I really do
I really do

The apple falling from the tree
She's rotten and so beautiful
I'd like to keep her here with me and tell her that she's beautiful
She takes the pills to fall asleep and dream that she's invisible
Tormented dreams, she stays awake; recalls when she was capable

She's empty and so beautiful
I'll keep her here with me

My Giegue/Maria/George song. Maybe I'll make an FST dedicated to their tragic end this December. Who knows. Other than that, lol, bad memories of ex-friend haunting me. Tried reading Little Nemo comics to feel better, but I have no patience for repetitive formulas now.

SIMS 2 either won't work on my laptop or it freezes. After trying multiple times to fix it and failing, I must say I'm very pissed off.

It's kinda funny how over at [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets, people are raising such a hissyfit over someone declaring Stephanie Meyer/Anne Rice/Laurel K. Hamilton = OT3!!1!1 'cause ZOMG MEYER IS THE SUCK AND DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE PUT BESIDE THE RANKS OF ANNE RICE Um, what? Weren't Rice and Blake the main fandom jokes a couple months ago? Anyone remember Rice exploding on reviewers at Amazon.com and the wank that followed? Anyone? Bueller? Funny how they praise Rice and Hamilton as masters of their craft just for the sake of spitting at Meyer. Er, guys? Weren't you all discussing how Rice & Hamilton's books have gone down the tube? The difference between them and Meyer is that Meyer's the new kid on the block. They all write horrible wish-fulfillment vampire stories. Therefore, the crack OT3 is perfectly justified in my eyes. :P Bashing Meyer doesn't automatically make you cool if you make a hypocritical statement in the same breath.

You know what? Whenever I hear the word "twilight", the first thing that comes to mind aren't sparkling vampires. Long before I heard of the books, something else took my heart... in the form of song.

To me, this is about Grovyle & Celebi in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of Time/Darkness. Their reality is permanently suspended. What could they have done? Is there anything else? What steps could Grovyle have taken instead in his journey back in time? Either way, their future is bleak... they seek their blight of existence so that the world can breathe again, vanishing into the twilight.

I was all "Awwww! ;____;"), tons of subtext (BOY-ON-POKEMON-TACKLE-TIME-IN-THE-WATER), poor Brock having a girl like him while still having a chance for once, gorgeous fantastic visuals (the time flowers, the entirety of the Tree of Beginning) mild Pikachu angst, scariness and waaaaaaaaaaaah! moments, creepy white blood cells that appeal to my twisted-freak side, understandable angst that doesn't make me want to punch someone in the face, empathy (when I wanted to punch Lucario in the face for being a prick, Ash did. XD), tie-in relations with the Mother series (Notice how the Queen looks like a Pokemon-styled version of Queen Mary?), HOT SPRINGS, Team Rocket's hysterical lines and their "AWWWWWWWW!" inducing reunion with Meowth in the end (because you know he's worried! ;;) real peril, fantasy and castles and knights, robot-sounding Regis which-made-them-cooler-than-they-really-were, NAKED SIR AARON WITH HIS CLOTHES HANGING ON THE BRANCHES--ohwaithe'sinhisregulartunicinvitingLucariotodiphisfeetinthewaterGODDAMMIT, lonely child-like characters even though I'm tempted to call Mew a selfish prick that did damage to herself and the tree just to keep Pikachu--ooh wait. Fic bunny! But yeah, Puri thinks Movie1!Mew is cuter. Sounds better too, like a bell instead of Amy Rose trying to voice Pikachu or something. XDDDD, finally the beautiful romance relationship between Lucario and Sir Aaron. Just... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! ;_____________________; They'resosweetomgIlovethemOTPOTP

2 Things I Haven't Seen in Other PokeMovies That Happened in Lucario (SPOILER SNIP!) )

Death isn't all bad. To quote Ralph Wiggum: "You could go to Heaven! :D"

Dear god, Sir Aaron is so hot and sexy. *_________________________________* But anyway, mp3 post for all!

Fighting Runaway Dogs and Spiteful Crows for a T-Rex Bat is painful as hell, but worth it in the end~ ♥

Also Jeff is the sexiest thing on two legs.

What? I did not say that.

Oh Jeff~ ♥ Jeff Jeff Jeff~ ♥ So cute~! ♥♥♥

I'm not a Jeff fangirl! Go away.

P.S. "Mad World" is Jeff's theme song.
