Dude. Today I went to the SSB section of FF.net for lulz and see what kind of pairings people are maiming Pit with. But god oh god oh god. Do what you want with the other characters, but raping anyone from Earthbound is a sacrilegious crime that should make the palms of their hands peel before DARING to write for them without knowledge from the series (and OOC too).

Ness really hated that Lucas guy. Not only did the kid appear out of NOWHERE, but he even seemed to be a much more skilled PK user. 'Who does Lucas think he is? God..?' Ness wondered angrily as he watched said PK boy showing off to Peach and Zelda.

I agree with what you're saying. xD Most people I know only know about Ness, Lucas, and Pokey because of SSBB, and before that, they only knew about Ness.

They're probably making assumptions without playing Mother 2 or 3, and know nothing about the characters. Which in it's own way is irritating. :/
