Whenever I hear the term "rapefic" in fanfiction, I roll my eyes. 'Cause usually it's written by some sheltered 14-year-old twit trying to be "cool and edgy" and using it as a plot device for comfort sex or "twu wuv" or something blech. Lots and lots of fics are like this. Enough of it for there to be classic parodies of this sorta badfic like good ol' Zelphie Fic That Turned Bad.

Then there's real rape, which terrifies the crap outta me. It's a tricky subject matter for me to stomach (let alone read) which wakes you up and you take it seriously. I've read chillingly realistic fanfiction that's pulled this off, but it's rare as a pin in a needlestack. Otherwise, I've laughed at far more rapefic that begged to be taken seriously than I have left feeling haunted. Depending on the fandom, it's VERY hard for me to buy that someone got raped. Oh, so A can get into B's arms? Haha, yeah right.

Then Puri RPs a character, and follows through with his personality and actions and... it makes sense.

This wasn't some silly little fantasy. There was no actual rape-rape scenes; just my character confessing to his best friend. His description was enough to leave me heart-broken and crying. A lot. Hell, Puri ended up typing things she was afraid to type; things the character was afraid to tell but happened. Things that made Puri cringe and feel uncomfortable, but I wanted to say what I mean and not sugarcoat or exaggerate... and sugarcoating would've been far easier to do.

It's been a while since I've walked around the city feeling so self-conscious and well... violated. Though nothing happened to me in reality.

I'm blown away. I don't regret RPing it one bit, it's a hella an eye-opener in a lot of ways. But damn, off to eat food and tremble some more. Ech. :(

D: RPing can do that to you. I stopped doing RPs because they're just so emotionally-involving, but I agree they can really help open your eyes on things (not that I ever RP'd a scene like the one you did).
And, oh, what an unfortunate yet appropriate song. >_>

"My, you do like a good story, don't you?"

Heh, I love RPing because I love being emotionally evolved. XD Heck, I never cry writing my fanfiction, so if I cry during RP, it's gotta be worth something! :o

No kidding. T-T I was thinking of that song through that scene.

That's true, it would be pretty nice to kinda... "move" yourself! I guess it's because you always put a little bit of yourself into your characters when you RP. Just wondering, was it an OC you were RPing, or a character from a certain fandom?

This reminds me, I really want to get the Sweeney Todd album!
