I've always wanted to make a rec post so my flist can recommend me new books/series/games and such, but I never do. Oh snap.

And the Bleach fandom isn't as scary as the Digimon fandom or the Harry Potter fandom or the Avatar fandom... it's relatively tame. Just... don't get in a fight with the Ichihime-IchiRuki people.

Hm, how do I put this? Bleach is good, but it follows some of the annoying animé um... methods I guess? (drawn out battles for example. I mean, they're not -that- drawn out, *coughdragonballz* but yeah.) The characters are interesting though, and thought I stopped halfway through the Bount filler (which I grew tired of) all the stuff before that was good. :3 You should definately give it a go, though, if only for RUKIA. Orihime's pretty neat too

Go and find Read or Die now. It is very good, yes.

Here's the way Haruhi works: the BROADCAST order tells the story out of chronological order, placing the less dramatic moments in the first half of the season and the most dramatic moments at the end. And for me, it worked VERY well.

The DVD RELEASE order puts them in chronological order, so the first time through the story makes a lot more sense, but it ends on a much, much quieter note. The season end just doesn't have the same emotional impact in DVD release order that it does in broadcast order. I recommend it either way, really, because it's GOOD. :)

Hre's why I got the Limited Edition Haruhi DVDs (besides the extra goodies, I mean): they include bonus discs that present the series in broadcast order, and without English dubbing. :D

Seconding Haruhi if you haven't seen it yet. And yes, the episodes are out of order. You can watch them in chronological order, but I personally think the aired order is more fun. The DVDs have them in chronological order.

I finished Elfen Lied. This series made me cry, believe it or not. It's really sad, but it's GOOD. It's pretty violent in places though.

I can't say anything about Bleach because I haven't read it, but as far as Mother 3 goes, I would really just recommend holding out for the translation. They were going to try and get it out in November (doesn't look like that's gonna happen though, according to their blog),but I think it'll be out before too much longer, and you waited this long so you might as well wait for when you'll be able to play through it with a translation. Your call though, you could definitely get by with the translation FAQs out there already and there is a patch to translate menu names and stuff.

I used to love BLEACH, but drifted away from it eventually. I still love some of the characters from the beginning, though! Try it out, at least, and hope you have a better attention span than I do.

Also, I'm waiting for Starmen because, yes, I don't want the experience ruined by a translator sheet and things.

I'd definitely recommend trying Bleach out. It's got a few cliché elements of anime in it (namely drawn-out battles - nowhere near as bad as DBZ, but sometimes they can get repetitive), but I watch it mainly for the characters. ♥ The show has some of the catchiest and funkiest music too, and it can be funny as hell at times. *A*b I'm not sure if you'd like it or not, but yeah, I'd recommend renting it. Orihime is one of my favorite characters. :(

Okay, I am undecided as to whether you should watch Bleach. On the one hand, it is the generic shounen fight anime. Heroes fight bad guys, win, they fight bigger bad guys and lose, then go off and learn a New Secret Fighting Technique and go back and whoop the bad guys respective asses.

Most of the time, it just involves people with swords turning their swords into bigger swords or differently shaped swords or a bunch of small swords. Every once in a while, though, you find someone who turns their sword into a giant flying stingray with landing gear (I am completely serious), and it is SO WORTH WATCHING IT.

Maybe I should watch it.
