Yet Another EB Fanfiction Post

here_inmyheadI know most of you don't really care about this sorta thing, but eh. XD Guess it's all for me, eh?
OCs are boring. Especially for a video game you never played. XD Ah well. As I said, I'm showing for the hell of it. I'm bored. XDDD!
She's not really developed yet, so don't expect a lotta specific information. ^^;;; She's for my megalong EB fic I need to start, working title called Nights of Genesis. She was named after a song: Kathy's Song by Apoptygma Berserk. The Victorian remix with VNV Nation had a little interlude at the beginning, mimicing the first lines of Genesis. Finally, the song starts with "And God created Man, and Man created Machine. And Machine, Machine created Music. And Machine saw everything It had made and said, 'Behold'." The Starmen immediately jumped to mind. Hey, they may work for Giygas, but they're proud! :o Then there's the entire theme of music in Earthbound 0/Mother 1. Exactly how long did it take for God to create Man, which in turn made Machine made Music? A week? Seven nights to make Music? Thus the story behind the title.
Ahem. Back to Kathy.
The Chosen 4 are around their teen years in this fic, so Kathy would be as old as Ness was in the events of Mother 2, around 13. She was originally gonna be based on Pippi's design (Like Ninten = Ness, Ana = Paula, Loid = Jeff), but when I started making her sprites, she ended up as a blonde girl with ordinary pigtails wearing a dark-red hankie around her head. She was initially called Kathy Scarlett, hence all the crimson. I still keep calling her that. Godammit. The hanky was added because I was having trouble with her hair bands. :o Glad I added it now, it's pretty. XDD!
Kathy Saffron is the daughter of Mayor Saffron and his wife (in a fictional Puri-created town called *DUNDUNDUN* Saffron. No, you will not find Silph Co. there). Kathy plays by herself and pretty much likes it that way. She likes going off into the woods to be among wildflowers, so it doesn't surprise her parents she's away for hours and hours there. When she hasn't come home though, the mayor begs Ness to find her--thus he does and so begins an insightful walk back. (Annnnnnd in typical RPG fashion, Kathy gives him a super useful item to help him on his journey. I'd say Franklin Badge, but that's a tad mean, considering Paula already gave him one. XDDD! There's also a Sanctuary, but ehhh... too big for an NPC. Too Sueish! XDD!)
Thing with Kathy is she's autistic--high function autism, but autistic nonetheless. So when Ness finds her, she's sitting against a tree peeling the bark off twigs from the ground in boredom and deep thought. She's very tactile and picky about items, often adjusting and tying her hankie and petting it, twirling her pigtails and finger-combing them, and easily gets distracted and wanders off, often because she saw something interesting or pretty like a squirrel. Even when talking to Ness (she may not always be looking, but she hears him), she'll pick at scabs and pimples on her arms--bad habit of hers. :o Despite little quirks and differences, Kathy grows to like Ness, and becomes more talkative and open around him and trusts him as a friend. Likewise, Ness discovers there's more to her--and himself--then what's on the surface.
She has little teenie roles in the fic after that, but after she's home, that's pretty much it. XD In case it takes more prayers to beat Giygas, Kathy's there!

Date: 2007-09-19 03:09 am (UTC)I wanted to keep her realistic. :) I wanted her to be an actual developed character rather than the stereotypical Hollywood Poster Disabled Child or base her entire existence that "ZOMG SHEZ AUTISTIK!!1!1!" and bashing the audience's heads with it over and over. XD I don't want to exaggerate or fall into any myths, and I speak as a high-function autistic. XD
