Pfft. I'm pissy. So I'm going to vent. Which may or may not be a good idea. But take note that none of this is directed to anyone on my flist. Not cutting 'cause I want everyone to see.

I HATE SONUCKLES.

Really, I've tried giving it a chance. Like I did with Gymshipping. But I see nothing of what makes them so appealing and perfect to elitists that they feel the need to shred Sonadow and Pokéshipping to pieces. And a few people? (BNFs?) Utterly poisoned them for me. So now I can't think of the pairing without feeling sick and sometimes reminded of the person. I don't want to stray too far from the subject of Sonuckles. But the second I told an old friend/well known author that I liked Ash/Misty? She ignored me. Never talked to me again. Puts a little nail in the heart, eh?

I just hate feeling like that little kid in the corner who has no voice among anyone whatsoever. Say a word, I get laughed at and snarked at and kicked.

There's more to rant about. But I can't remember. Good thing. Figures I feel like an asshole now.

I see no appeal in pairing Sonic with Knuckles either, one of the reasons being I'm not into yaoi. I prefer hetero couplings like Sonic and Amy, but I seldom do anything with couple stuff in the Sonic world these days. I dunno. To each his own really, but I hate it when people behave about it in the way you've described. Those people need to wake up.

I find the Sonic fandom to be the most anal at times. Especially over pairing preferences (of all things, sheesh). It's one of the siliest wars I've ever seen on the internets.

I'm not a huge fan of Sonuckles, but it doesn't mean I avoid it like the plague; same with all pairings actually. Of course, there are always ones that make you stop and think "Well that was...awkward." I do understand where you're coming form though, in terms of a certain pair or instance reminds you of something you'd much rather forget.

Some people make me want to reach through the internet and slap them.

I'm usually neutral to a lot of pairings. If there's one I don't like or don't care for, I'm typically just "Eh" and forget about it. I've seen lotsa pretty Sonuckles art--I just can't bring myself to feel anything for the ship itself.

Some people... make me want to practice torture methods on them. But Puri's mind is a frightening place when she's angry, sooooo... XDDDD;;;

Sonuckles aside, people need to be able to respect other people's taste. I had a bit of a discussion with someone a little while ago about shipping. The way I look at it is that people need to accept people have a taste for different things.

A good example about "taste" is something like this: I like Milkyway. You like Snickers. Are you going to turn to me, and mock me for liking Milkway better than Snickers? Am I going to gag and call you a freak for liking Snickers?

Hell no. That's fucking ridiculous. And it's the same thing with pairings. Like what you like, don't like what you don't like. People need to respect you for that. If they don't, they're fucking losers. :D End of story.

No kidding. @.@;; There's a few folk on my flist who ship Sonuckles, but they don't ram my throat about it. One of them was even kind and left one of the most uplifting messages ever said that make me think, "Why aren't there MORE people like you?"

I don't care for Sonuckles either ^^; I don't see how it works. Just because they're rivals, they must have the hots for each other? Same sorta reasoning as Ash/Gary in Pokémon, which I never understood either.

But anyway, anyone who judges people by the pairings they support is an imbecile. I mean, I don't like Sonadow, personally, but a LOT of my friends are Sonadow fans and I respect that and still love those friends just as much ^^ ::Hugs::

So yeah, feel free to hate a pairing, doesn't make you a bad person at all :) But just remember that anyone who judges you based on the pairings you support (or don't support) doesn't deserve to be your friend anyway.

I don't ram knives down people's throats for disliking Sonadow. It's stupid to force someone to like a ship they're uncomfortable with, and the virtue of having your own ships to like is more valuable to me than the entire world liking the same thing.

It's what I want to say to these people. Don't like my OTP? Fine. I'll respect yours even if I don't like it. But if you BASH my OTP and condescend me for not liking yours, we've got a skeleton to pick.

I don't much care for any Sonic pairings, but I completely understand where you're coming from. It's part of why I avoid most of any fandom -- yaoi in particular. I like slash, both of the male and female variety, but I also like het, and it drives me crazy when people hate on certain girls (Example: Tifa, Rinoa, Releena, Noin, Amy, Sakura (Naruto version), Kairi, Namine) just because they're girls in potential conflict with their favorite pairing. (I use this icon because it expresses my preference for OT3s. :3)

People need to lighten the hell up. Ending friendships over pairings is, as alba_aulbath pointed out, just as retarded as ending them over candy bars. My friends and I disagree about a lot of things, and you know what? That's okay. Things are more interesting that way.

Y'know, personally, I think it's bad to say you hate a pairing based entirely on the actions of other people who like it.

How do you think the prejudice you suffer for liking Sonadow got started? By people doing exactly that. It's where shipwars start.

If you want to help, be nice about it yourself. It helps make other people feel like idiots when they take things too seriously. You shouldn't take them seriously either.

As I typed this post, I thought about my dislike for people who hate pairings solely because of the fans. For me? When it comes to Sonuckles, I disliked it/didn't care for it before I met people who were fans of it.

I see them as friends--most of the subtext is too platonic for me to see them have anything going on. Their personalities clash too much--they'd rip another to shreds without any benefit whatsoever. Some people say it makes them more appealing. But Sonic & Shadow rip each other to shreds too; but their personalities balance each other out so they both can grow. With Sonuckles, it's just... stalemate. There's no change.

But I won't preach anyone against Sonuckles. I can understand the appeal--I just that I don't feel anything for it myself.

People go on about how they wish people in the fandom would stop hurting each other over something as silly as pairings, you especially. And then you make a post in your Livejournal with 'I hate Sonuckles' all in capitals at font size 6, bolded and underlined.

You're right. You do have the right to explode in your journal from time to time. But when you spit fire and venom publically like this, you deserve what you get in return.

Hate begets hate. Plain and simple.

If you'd channel your energy into writing positive things about other pairings you like instead of screaming about the ones you hate, you'd get a lot more positive in return, too.

Oh man... D: That's so dumb, to get all personal over a *fictional pairing* of all things! But... I can understand where you come from. I have to admit that I don't really openly say what pairings I do wholeheartedly support... I mean, I love the concept of pairings, but when I think about it more, I don't actually actively *SHIP* a lot, except for two. And what I ship is rather... well, odd, probably. I'm afraid of getting bashed and beaten. Hell, once, I had a friend (I don't know if I'd still consider him one, and if he thinks of me as one...) who was *so* elitist that anything not canon he'd automatically be snarky about and delete. No wonder all the fanfic in the fanfiction section was his... e_e;;; I guess that's a huge reason why I'm so afraid to voice our my opinions... he rather, er... I guess you could say, put a stump on my ... ability to be myself? :X;

That's kinda funny, that people would be so shitty to you over AAML/Pokeshipping when Gymshipping is kind of obscure. I recently became a Gymshipper (thanks to movie 9), so I'm just boggling at this. (P.S., I also somewhat ship sonuckles). I was thinking about throwing myself back into the Pokefandom but... I dunno now. If it's as bad as the Sonic fandom is, I think I'll just stick to my Power Rangers.

I guess I can understand disliking a pairing for meta reasons--I have a feeling that my sudden support of Gymshipping and Advanceshippping, and my sudden switch from Knuxouge to Sonuckles, have something to do with the terrible breakup I went through this last fall. But it makes me a little sad that you're not down with these pairings because of what some assholes did in the fandom and not because of intrinsic weaknesses in the ship (and I do recognize that both Gymshipping and Sonuckles have them in droves).

Yeah. Remember, though, not all of us gymshippers are nuts. Back when I was a pokeshipper, I had to give a nod of respect to my gymshipping brethren, and now that I'm a gymshippper, I still think Pokeshipping is important. To be honest, I could even get behind an Ash/Misty/Brock/May OT4. =D

I don't know if I can really add any new thoughts to this whole thing, but I would like to voice my agreement that starting fights over preferred pairings is just...ridiculous. I mean, come on. Everyone's going to have their preferences, and people who can't get along with people who think differently than they do? Aren't going to get along very well in the world.

I like Sonuckles. Not in an OTP way, but I like the pairing. But that doesn't mean that ZOMG, U'RE NOT MY FREIND NEMORE!!!!1 Because that would be a horrible reason to lose an awesome friend. I guess some people can deal with that? I wouldn't be able to. D:
