What are your five favorite things about your fandom?

1. So many lovable, interesting and diverse characters. :) From the grumpy Shadow to the obsessive Amy to the silly Chaotix, you never get bored~
2. The universes, be it Earth or Mobius, are damned amazing. *______* So much fic material darnit.
3. Subtext galore! There's billions of ships for anything, so you're bound to find something you like. <3333
4. My favorite character and OTP is in it. Whee~!

What are your five least favorite things about your fandom?

1. Shadow and Sonadow bashing. But you knew that already.
2. Elitists, especially those who constantly trash the newer games and SatAM fans thinking their universe is superior and "deeper" than SEGAverse's. @.@;;;
3. Shipwars. GUESS WUT SALLY AND MINA ARE DATING LOLZ Oh, and SonElise isn't bestality.
4. All the goddamn bloody stereotypes! Shadow the Emo Kid, Sonic the Ebil Amy Abuser, Amy the Cutter, I could go on! DDD:
5. When people judge characters like Silver or Shadow or Blaze, or games without playing them in the goddamn first place. Don't bother hating a character when all your information of him/her comes from the Internet, bitch.

1. Lack of goodfic. DDD: Enough with the crappy "hyper" fics already!
2. STOP BASHING MARIO GODDAMMIT. WHAT DID HE DO TO YOU? Albeit, since the Mario & Luigis, the bashing from the Weegie-Boppers isn't NEARLY as bad as it was before. But still! :/
3. Luigi/Peach and Bowser/Peach shippers--STOP VILLAINIZING MARIO.
4. WE NEED MORE SUPER MARIO RPG FIC GODDAMMIT. That isn't a Smithy Returns sequel anyway. XD
5. Paper Mario =/= Paper Mario 2. STOP ASSUMING THE SEQUEL IS A CLONE OF THE ORIGINAL.

I ALMOST wrote a deathfic that was a ripoff of Nuriko's death in Fushigi Yuugi where Lemmy killed Yoshi in Ice Land, Mario and Luigi mourn, and Bowser mourns too when Lemmy dies in his hands trying to make him proud. ALL to the tune of "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan. @.@;;;

You know, sometimes I feel bad missing out on the good things fandom has to offer, and other times I'm glad I stay out of it. I think I did a double-take when I read Amy the cutter. Just... bwah? o_o Wheeeere are people getting this from?

And hearing that people are bashing characters without even playing the games makes me sad! Poor Blaze and Shadow! T_T And Silver, too, though I have yet to play StH myself.

What is it that makes Fiona so bad, out of curiosity? I've hardly ever read the comics so most of the characters are beyond me XD;

And I guess I'm not the only one who didn't get attached to Lakielster. I never used him %D

and wow, now that i think about it, that mario fandom IS tame :O I hear scary stories of shipwars and stuff in other fandoms, but almost never for mario! and yes, I hate it when people villianize mario like that. Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but Archieverse is "deeper" than Segaverse. Why? The sheer volume of script involved in 200ish issues of comics (if you count specials and side series) versus a handful of games. But deeper isn't always better, and proportionally I'd argue that Segaverse is deeper in terms of average development per character. Plus, the backstories offered in Segaverse make more SENSE than the Archie ones, and there's something to be said for the mystery that Segaverse offers about how and why. They provide just enough info about the backstory of characters to tease us and make things make sense, but not enough to spell it all out, making us make our own conclusions. I like that.

Which brings me to something I've been a bit confuzzled about. o_O

I've never encounted actual SatAM elitists in my travels, although I am very well aware of the number of Archieverse elitists there are. So are we saying that SatAM = Archieverse? I know they started off of the same basic material, but they're still different, I think. SatAM is SatAM. Archieverse is the slow, but steady (and kinda sloppy) combination of all Sonic universes, plus whatever they can think of to add in themselves. The elements of SatAM may have been among Archieverse's first acquisitions, but that doesn't make them the same. Am I right?

The differences between SatAM and Archie are so subtle that it's virtually negligible. The reason? SatAM is so short that the first notable divergence of continuity between the two, if I recall correctly, came during the end of SatAM and during like the first 40 issues of Sonic. SatAM's timeline occupies like a quarter of the Archieverse's runtime...

They aren't the same thing, no, but they may as well be. SatAM is so lost in time... Comparing it side-by-side to the corresponding Archie arc would be almost pointless, especially in light of the dramatic differences between that pair of universes, AoSTH, Underground, Sonic X, and the Segaverse proper.

It's sort of like comparing Pokemon FRLG to Pokemon RBY... Mostly the same, but one shot off with its own weirdass plotline afterward.
