Jan. 19th, 2004 10:35 amWell, I spent what seemed like the last five days playing "Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga", and here is what I have to say about it:
I LOVE IT.
Okay, maybe not as much as "Super Mario RPG". XD But damn, what a good game.
For one, it was very cute and hilareous. I could just count how many times I've laughed and "Awwwwww!"ed all throughout this. God, and I love the Mario Bros... and Luigi is just precious. The way he waves his hat going "Bye bye!", pokes at things, freaks out and screams, his "Yo ho!"s, his cries of "Mario!", his "Go Weegie!"s, his voice overall, (it fits his character so well--It even beats his "Mario Kart 64"'s voice!) and... and the way he cares for and supports his brother, and how Mario does the same and looks out for him. Whenever the other faints in battle or when they help each other out of a crisis and hug each other... they really do love each other. Take that, fanon. :p
Ah, Princess Peach. In fact, the only problems I really had with her were the creepy repeated kidnappings in the Teehee Desert, (Whoa. o_O) and that her eyes are as huge as Frodo's in the LotR movies. XD But, those things are only minor, and she did escape some even more sucky situations with the help of Peasely and the Mario Bros. Plus, her laughter is really cute. ^^
In addition to giggling and fangirl squealing, I also had a lot of "Poor *insert character*!" XD Bowser had a really tough time in this game. Having amnesia, having this evil overlordess take over your body, and your castle in the sky being blown up so suddenly with a reason you don't know--that's got to suck.
The guy who had an even suckier time of course, is obviously Luigi. *nod* "Hey! Uhh... Mr. Green Guy!" The poor guy... and his reaction after Mario got sick from the drink and the supposedly creepy place that could mean his death-- he looked so pitiful I almost felt like hugging him. ;_; Well, I suppose as Phil said, Weege is taking up after the abuse Mario had in the previous two "Mario" RPGs. Hell, in addition to being made fun of for his weight and mustache, even Mario got a "Hey, who are you!?".
The drag scene, followed by the shower/lawn scene, was one of the funniest things in the entire game. XD I swear, Luigi was made for being the James of "Pokemon". He's so huggable and charming, yet acts so feminine... even Peach says it herself. "Why, Luigi! You look more... manly." And after the Luigi escapes from Fawful and Cackletta, he even fanned himself. XD
I love E. Gadd. XD I get so excited whenever he comes along, and wonder what he's invented next, and what tricks will follow by his ghosts. Man, I gotta rent "Luigi's Mansion" sometime. And Kamek! I'm kinda amused he was wearing a White Mage robe from "Final Fantasy", and the part when he attempted to hypnotize himself was hilareous. "I am a genius... I am a genius..." As for Geno, I want to smack him. XD Why did he have to be a cameo? *SOB* Well, I take some amusement into making fun of him, though. He acts like a robot, and Robot!Geno is something I can't quite compute. XD Even more pleasing at least was the Koopalings. Although they appeared way later near the end of the game and uttered no dialouge, their puzzles and battles with them were quite breath-taking and worth the wait and disappointment. ^^
The ending was so short! *sob* No parade this time... oh well. I was amused by when Luigi tried to go after Prince Peasley though, and sobbed when he couldn't reach him. I swear, I think he had a crush on the guy by the end of the game. Aww. I think it may call for a new ship. *prepares a Peasley/Luigi banner* XD That, and it was cute when Toadsworth and Lady Lima hugged.
Fawful is beautiful. He has fury. :D And I kinda like Queen Bean for some reason. Oh, and Birdo is scary. XD
Well, I better go. I'm off to see "Peter Pan" today. ^^ And before I forget, Happy Martin Luther King Day, everyone. ^_~
