Great. Just fucking great. I was testing in school today, so I didn't get to go to Spanish. And oh ho ho, I did the most brilliant thing ever. I left my project in Physics class. While it's folded. So now, the teachers will probably think it's junk and throw it away, and I won't get it back. FUCK FUCK FUCK. As far as I'm concerned, this has NOT happened to me. In... I don't know, decades. Have I been so friggin' unreliable lately? To myself and family... what's going on with me?

But that's not what I'm pissed about. I can easily make another Spanish project: reprint the pictures, get another poster, rewrite what I need. Heck, it'll look cleaner and better than before. Therefore, I get a better grade, possibly 105. Voila! And for the "reliable" bit, it's something I know I am. I just need to kick myself in the ass so I can quit slouching and whining and actually DO stuff.

Let's just say that if you look at a ship mainly (perhaps soley?) for its fanbase and quality of fanfiction, not because of what was in the Animé/Games/Whatever themselves, I've been sitting under the air conditioning since forever, so my hand feels like ice and effing rigid. Combined with its state and how I currently feel, I won't hesistate to smack you across the face to the floor.

I, for one, am NOT going to let a bunch of rabid little fanbrats destroy MY ships. They can scribble the crap they want, squee over their mind-wrecking pr0n and Harlequin High-Schoolmances, make my insides burn from their mindless shriekings and OOCness, and make me wish I can use dynamite to blow up every Character A/Character B shipper alive (with a few exceptions of course) so I can enjoy my favorite pairing in peace. But you know what? These fangirls ship their own *coughwrong* version of Character A/Character B... it's such a far cry from what it could be if it were actually in character.

Say it sloooooowly with me: Every couple has its bad apples. Every couple for any fandom has a rabid fangirl. Every couple for any fandom has horrible, OOC fanfic. Every couple has its bad apples. Every couple has its bad apples. Every couple has its bad apples.

So you ate some apples that had some worms in them. Boo hoo. Are you going to chop down the entire tree because of that? Hell, it could be Wormsville for the tree with my favorite apples growing. But man, those few apples I picked, without any icky bugs and mold on them? Those were the most precious bites I've ever had. I'd sooner chop the tree and nurture the seeds from those few Oh-So-Godly fruit. It takes time to nurture, but someone's gotta start somewhere.

I was originally wangsting 'cause I was worried I'd hate a certain character's guts after a game comes out later. But then again, Robert Frost said people never did anything because they spent that time worrying. Well, definitely after this, I'm not going to sit and whine, eh? Not when I have work to do.

...At any rate, November 24th would be the Secret*Fic's birthday. Well, I wasn't gonna finish it below a year, eh?

*sigh* Needed to let loose a few steam. I wonder how much I've spammed this with you guys... particulary the ones who've known me longer and saw through me what I was talking about. Yet again...

Edit: And DON'T you think I don't know what I'm talking about. I was once a Pokéshipper. Don't tell me I never had to put up with Scrambled Netspeakfic and shipping wars. And "Digimon". DIGIMON. Right in the golden age of shipping wars and flamers and giggling fangirls. And early "Super Smash Bros. Melee"dom? I once known a few horrid, HORRIBLE people. And the worst character bashing/worship I had EVER seen in my life.

So yeah. I say to MY fandom, with MY ship... Bring. It. ON.

WORD.

No couple is perfect. No fandom is perfect.

I can understand shying away from something because of a crappy fanbase. But can't they do it QUIETLY?! Why do they have to go around trying to ruin everyone else's fun?!

Ditto. I don't care what people say: there's no such thing as a perfect fandom. Fandoms I feel unsoiled, yes. But not perfect... and even then, those "unsoiled" fandoms are a minority. (And let us not talk about FMA and Naruto, but let us say those fandoms were already bat-shit insane before they got translated, and I don't even watch these shows)

So I just... silently sit in the corner with my chocolate milk, silently typing good stuff to keep myself sane... again, a minority to the overall fandoms. But hey. *sip*

Don't watch FMA? Pity, that's really dramatic stuff there. Although now that I think about it, it may have one real weird and insane fandom (I thankfully haven't seen FMA fandom, and maybe I'm better off that way? n_n;)

My sister loooooooves them both. XDDD I've only seen the first episode of FMA and the first 1-10 or so episodes (and the first graphic novel) of "Naruto", and then everyone was 10 billion episodes ahead of me and I felt incredibly behind. XDD FMA does sound interesting though, I could give it another go and see if anyone hasn't checked out the mangas already. XDD (And I know both the Animé and manga are supposed to be humongously different. XDD) And I'd doubt I'd join the fandom, so there's no worries for me there. XDDD

I feel behind in the times these days. XDD Le sigh~

Shipping is a nasty business, and that's why I often distance myself from it. If I were in your position, I'd just write for what -I- like, and not for the fandom of the pairing itself. So in this example, I wouldn't Sonadow because of the Sonadow community, I'd Sonadow because -I want to-. It'd make me feel a lot better and independent from the general fanbase. I wouldn't have to worry about what those other people are doing, and so I don't feel any pressure or embarassment from it. I look at you as a fanfiction author, not as some other Sonadow writer.

The best fanfic writers out there should demonstrate variety and balance, that means being able to handle any character and any situation at any time. If you commit yourself to just one pairing, then all you can ever do effeciently is just that one pairing and leave the other characters in the dust. What's great about being a fanfic author is that you already have some sense of canon and some characters to work with. So make the most of the canon (and build on it if necessary to fill in holes) and work with all of the characters as best you can. If you find some characters you like, great, go ahead and work on them so more. The real good fanfic authors out there work on more than just one pairing.

Exactly. *_____* I was always the weird kid in class 'cause I did my own thing--I wrote for something because I felt like it and/or found it interesting and thought I'd elaborate, not because someone said "OMG Sonado wiz soooooo HAWT!!1" or "Sonadow, eww. So much horrible fanfiction."

One of the reasons I love writing so much is because it lets me fully express myself in a way I can't with anything else. It brings out my individuality, my thoughts, my feelings, my values, what I adore... people know it's me when I'm writing. And Sonadow. Much as I love it, it's not the only thing I can do. If I based my entire life on it, I wouldn't be dreaming to become a novelist, now would I? ;D There's more to me than that: I visit Homestar Runner.com, I love "Kirby" series both games and show, I adore Geno of "Super Mario RPG", I squee over Popo and Nana's teamwork, I'm starry-eyed over movies like "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", I love to read books especially like Roald Dahl and Tolkien and Lemony Snicket, I treasure tigers and dragons and nature... I can go on and on. And eeeee, animation. :) I say if something had to be my life, it would be my big-ass Winamp list and CDs, containing everything from old classics to video gameness to soft lullabies to loud scary rock music that would make parents/grandparents everywhere run for the hills. XDDD

"Sonic" fandom is fun to write for, and not because of Sonic and Shadow alone. It's the entire "Sonic" world and atmosphere, and stuff like Project Shadow to look further into. And let's see: We have Tails, Eggman/Dr. Robotnik, Rouge, (who's fun to write. XD) Knuckles, the Chaotix, Amy, Cream, Gamma, Maria... and duuuuude, Metal Sonic. *_____* And older, exclusive characters too, like Metal Knuckles and Fang. XDDDD Once I spoke with someone who was curious about seeing Omega in a fic, and I got a bit of a plot bunny after talking to him. XDD It's from writing about these guys and the universe they're in that I get a different perspective on them... and it's really quite enlightening. That's another reason why I love writing fic. XDDD

...And as long as I'm sitting here, I either should keep playing my file of SA1 or go make icons based on "Sonic CD". XDD *sigh* Too bad I don't know anywhere where they've got screencaps of the opening and ending cinema scenes, though. :/ I wanted to see if I could experiment with that.

I can screencap the Sonic CD cinemas using Gens. I also have the .avi files from the PC version if you want them :^D

Alright! :^D I'll have to send the .avi files through AIM, but it'd be better for me to screencap. I'm busy with midterms though o.o; Can ya wait until next weekend? n.n;

In regards to edit, I'm suddenly reminded of those golden days of Digimon <3 Oh man, the shipping wars were nasty of course, but it was so fun remembering it all ya know? :^D I remember the good, the bad, and the ugly from those days :3

Awwww man, I do~! ;D Ahh... nostalgia. Sometimes it's really painful for me to look back how stupid I've been in some of the fandoms (and from the Review History on FF.net, I had to gag at a few of the fics I've read. @.@), but wow... I wouldn't forget these memories even if it meant I'd have a field of money trees aka "Animal Crossing". XDD (But then, I'd have to figure out how to convert Bells into coins and dollars. XDDD)

hee. Digimon. I never got into the shipping wars, but I did get into several flame wars over Digimon back in the day. Ah, such memories <3

But, shipping wars can get rabidly insane I think. 'tis why I stay out of it all and just quietly ship my own pairings regardless of what anyone else thinks of them. Much easier that way. Even if it does frustrate me when I can't find good fic for the rare pairings I like XD;;
