Jul. 1st, 2004 08:58 amOkay, this really sucks. I've just about explored every interesting place I could on the Internet, and even then, it's still hard to write fanfiction. You know that type of Writer's Block, right? You're not stuck or anything, and you know what direction to go--but when you sit down in front of your document, no matter how much inspiration you seek, you end up typing nothing, mainly because you can't think. You're all blanked out and such, kind of like burn-out mode or something. Dammit, this shouldn't happen now... not when I finished my Geno fic, fixed up the first chapter of CWCR, started my creative journal, and written my "Mario" fic drinking game! CWCR hasn't had any true updates since February, man... well, I suppose a little light comes into the situation, since I managed to do a bit of CWCR yesterday... I may have finally passed that scene where Pauline realizes Mario is badly wounded and such. XD
Also worked a little on my MST... I'm at least halfway done. Geez, the thing is so long I had to split it into two chapters. XD Well, chapter 2 is on the way at least, and I'm at the part where James was begging Jessie to tell him about her Freaky Scary Nightmare TM. Man, after this is finally over with, I won't be able to touch QoRfic without growing a few gray hairs. XD Methinks I'll tackle her again later after some other shorter MSTs are done... that "What the Blank???" fic comes to mind, including "Cat's Out of the Bag!", "Thrill of Defeat", and when braver, "The Power That's Inside". XD Maybe I'll even check out that fic where J&J get married with "Final Fantasy" music in the background. XDD
...And my brother is mutilating my "Animal Crossing" towns. Dammit, stop stealing all the fruit, growing trees in places they won't grow or block my way, constantly moving out of Inoria to play my NES games in Xytiane' so all the cool villagers move out, (At least Kiki's still around and that Midge came in Inoria... but damn it, Tiara's back in Xytiane'... -_-;) stealing the golden shovel I was growing for my character and overall sucking the life out of Inoria! >.< He's been playing so long for one day too... I bet he's friggin' time-traveling, which is basically ruining the entire point of "Animal Crossing" in the first place. That, and Mr. Resetti met me despite the fact I never restarted the game, yet he acts as if he's met me for the second time. Resetti just about hates my character in Xytiane' too, and the next time I tick him off, he's tearing my house down along with all the "Mario" stuff, NES games, Exotic stuff, and all the precious treasures I've gotten. (The fishing bear from my favorite villager, Grizzly, for one) And everything but the "Mario" series (and maybe the Luigi trophy) I got on my own from the game without using any codes. Sure, I can get it all back via code, but it just wouldn't be the same as finding them again on your own... damn destructo brothers! I wouldn't be suprised if Inoria gets full and he places the new bridge in a completely unnecessary place... >.< *holds bug net in hand* Unlikely, but if he should ever touch the incomplete Geno shrine I'm making, he's getting a bloody axe mailed to him tomorrow.
On the plus side, I still beat the crap out of my brother in "Wario's Woods". Ha ha ha... nobody messes with the champion of this game. :D
I can't believe how much breeding I've been doing in "Pokemon" these days. oO;; It's like suddenly, I decided to work after so long neglecting my Pokemon team. Now I've just finished hatching a bunch of Vulpix eggs, and the only thing to do left to do is to get a bunch of baby Raltses... lord knows I can't carry my Jirachi to all the Pokemon tournaments available. ^_^ I swear, he's so cute... I love him so much. It makes me sad to have him leave my team, so I always keep him around whenever possible, even if he's only level 5 and unlikely to be trained anytime soon. ^^ *sigh* That's my problem in Pokemon training. I've had a bunch of experience from computer trainers in the games and thought all I had to do was raise my Pokemon to Level 100 so I can be considered a supreme trainer. But since I'm the only one who ever plays "Pokemon" in my neighborhood, (and I never really had friends in real life) I had no idea about the other stuff that goes on. Sweepers? Tanks? Pyrostallers? All I knew about movesets was to match its moves with its type so it can cream the opponent it has an advantage over. (along with a few non-offensive moves to power it up some) I never fought anyone but computer trainers that are easily beaten anyway, so I have no idea what movesets would work against the trainers I do fight, if ever, in real life.
Which is going to be a problem when I train. I've got to do EV training, (even Personality matters, according to stats) and if I screw up in the slightest, I'm doomed. I don't know what my Pokemon's roles will be in the future, so I don't know whether to raise so-and-so as a Sweeper or whatever. I want to keep things balanced, but I don't want to go over to GameFAQs and copy movesets either. I'm one that likes to plan things as I go--like with my writing. I think a little about an idea, wondering how a certain chapter or one-shot would go and such, usually thinking of a couple specific but fuzzy scenes. Then when I sit down to start writing, I let everything else take over as I go--the story starts to flow on its own and makes itself clearer to me, and I even get wonderful and exciting ideas to flow the plot more naturally and put some spice in, something I could never come up with no matter how carefully and nitpicky I outline before writing.
I guess the same goes with "Pokemon"; I can plan ahead as much as I want, but only a little... everything else appears fuzzy to me. I want to grow with my Pokemon, dang it--I'd rather carefully select their EVs and level up for the moves that I find interesting for my Pokemon that they can learn along the way--if I screw up, I can alwaysrob Luvdiscs muwahahaha! see that guy so I can have 'em remember their better moves. ^^ I wanna raise a kick-ass team of Pokemon I like, too; one of the biggest mistakes I made in my Gold version was raising a Machamp because he was supposed to be the best candidate for fighting Dark Pokemon, a recently popular type. Yet, no matter how powerful he was, I never gotten quite close to him, even if he was at level 50 and benefiting the team well. I read a guide saying Raichu is weak, but I swear I never felt closer to an Electric Pokemon than I have for him and Pikachu, ever since my Blue version days. Sure, his Defense worries me, but a true fan can find his or her way through anything--I bet with the right personality and some good EV pumping, he'll be able to withstand a few hits. ^^ I'm thinking of teaching my Raichu "Protect" so he can spite all the Earthquake-using people and waste their PP upon him... muwahahahaha. :D
So I gotta worry about EVs... that, and way later finding proper nicknames for my Pokemon--I suck at naming things. XDDD *hugs Raichu, Milotic, Ninetales, Flygon, Jirachi and Umbreon, followed by Gardevoir* Of course, Jirachi's already named... just not really 'cause I can't change his nickname, since he came from my "Pokemon Colosseum" preview disk. :D

Date: 2004-07-01 06:48 pm (UTC)Your team sounds a lot like mine... I've got:
Ninetales/Flygon (Cleo/Infin)
Whiscash/Milotic (Warish/Milo)
Gardevoir/Xatu (names are symbols)
Lanturn/Crawdaunt (Lampara/Cthulhu)
Pinsir/Shedinja (Anthrax/Cicadex)
Girafarig/Donphan (Kirinriki/Donna)
Wow... long comment.
When faced with an Umbreon or anything that knows any sort of poison move, I throw in an Aggron, who is named Dave.
Nothing personal, but I find it kinda cheap to keep Legendaries around. Not that Jirachi really counts... *coughpatheticcough*
I only shared this because I'm really proud of my team, as I've yet to lose a serious battle. I'd love the change to challenge you someday... AND BEAT YOU!!!
