Oct. 23rd, 2005 01:10 pmLalala, I beat SADX yesterday! And I unlocked "Sonic Chaos" upon completion, which makes Puri a happy girl. Now I don't have to worry about this game as I boogie for "Mario DDR"! :3 I'm really getting the urge to play SA2B though... that, and everyone's making me feel horrible and left out and wanting me to play "Crash Gacchanko World". XDDD (Dude, how can I refuse a game that's got "burninate" in its vocabulary? XDD That, and everyone's saying it's better than "Mario Kart: Double Dash!", and I LOVE MK:DD. XDDD
Randomly checked my FF.net profile, per usual.
Me: Weird. One of my favorite authors has six stories now? *clicks to find what's up*
Two of Puri's Favorite Fanfiction: *DEL-EATED!*
Me: *Vaderesque* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Lucky for me, UNLIKE Super Mario RPG: Luigi's Quest by CherrieGal/Star Roadie looooooooooooooooong long ago, I anticipated something like this would happen. So instead of a grave built in the bowels of my LJ somewhere, I have backup copies of these two fics on my computer. *nod* Including what I call "The Campfire Story". Definitely the Campfire Story. *hugsprotectively* Dammit, I loved reading that fic. :(
It feels weird, keeping old stuff no author or artist wants anyone to ever see again, but you cuddle protectively in its own private enviroment, somewhere in the dustiest realms of your computer. All my old horrible fanfiction gets lost so easily--I'm not happy with something, poof! It disappears in the blink of an eye. Especially in my computer--with the powers of the mouse and Recycle Bin combined, my stuff's good as doomed. It's like... whoosh! Its entire existence is wiped out. Everything is erased. Memory, what memory? It's gone now.
And while some of my stuff DID deserve to disappear (*coughbashingficsandthatoneMinesweeperhorrorcough*), and I'm glad as hell people would never see such terrible Mary-Sues and shameful, terrible wanky things I published on FF.net ever again, (and I'm sure some of you guys can relate and feel the same. XDD;;) there were a few that I wished I'd kept around in a forgotten folder of my computer so I can see how young I was, and what kinda ideas I had at the time--and cringe horrendously at the parts in my writing that make me go, "AUGH! What the hell was I thinking when I wrote that!?" and stuff I wouldn't DARE look at for the sheer factor of flinging myself off a cliff for even thinking of these parts. Shame and guilt! Shaaaaaaame and guilt! For ever writing these. @.@ Ah, Kirby and Chuchu's Song... I still remember that fic. My first shippy fic ever, and definitely the WORST because of it. The horror, the horror...! And I'm sadly having urges to read the whole thing again. @.@
And now, it occurs to me. Is it me lately, or does all the good stuff disappear while I turn my back? It's like, look! A tree stump! *poof!* It's gone now. Like everyone's packing their bags and just... going, you know? Last time I checked, I thought I had around ten billion "Mario" fics on my Favorite Stories List on FF.net. Now, only Zarla's Need is there, and the most "Mario"y reference you can get are at least around 8-9 authors on my Favorites Authors list--three of them listing 0 fics. One of them wrote Luigi's Quest. The other left FF.net for good. As for the others, I don't know when they'll update again. But I point to them whenever people need Mariofic--Robin Lee and Jes are classics, after all. *nod* Now most of my favorites are being eaten up by "Sonic" stories, and even the really good, classic ones are starting to disappear or get lost in the drivel that's out there. :(
And curses. Knowing what goodfic was lost, especially for a fandom and ship that needs it, well... dammit, now I REALLY have to type like crazy to fight back against the sludge of badfic that's being dumped around here as the past generation disappears. (And damn, this song feels appropriate)
And so, life goes on.
