Okay. I am sick of this. I fucking HATE television, and I'm not even watching it right now. But I'm stuck hearing it from my room because my parents have the volume way up.



So, unless I have my music WAY up, I'm stuck listening to the news, where the newscasters are all "Oh my gosh, remember when Massachusetts allowed same-sex marriage and prepared for the worst? Well, today, IT'LL FEAR THE WORST." And some citizen being interviewed goes "Same-sex marriage is wrong because it promotes CHILDREN BORN OUT OF WEDLOCK" or "PEOPLE HAVE BABIES OUT OF WEDLOCK, SO NOW THEY GO AND MARRY THE SAME SEX" and... AUGH. All this horrible bullshit I don't want to hear which is why the HELL I avoid television and the news in the first place--unless it was you know, something actually important like Hurricane Katrina, and even then I could read up on it online and in the newspaper.

...And back to that first one. 'Cause obviously, the only way a gay couple is gonna have children is if one of them cheats on their spouse. 'Cause OMG ALL THOSE POOR UNADOPTED CHILDREN NOBODY WANTS DON'T EXIST!!!11

Ah... T.V. is off. MUCH better.

Still pissed, though. I swear, that's like when I figured out from Speech class that someone thought, "OMG Men are smarter and better than women because GOD MADE ADAM FIRST AND THEREFORE GAVE MORE GIFTS TO MAN THAN WOMAN!!!1"

Good. Fucking. GOD.

And people wonder WHY they aren't treated equally yet? Because they are TOO fixed on stereotypes, gender roles and associations, sexuality, and all that stupid bullshit when what REALLY matters is someone's character!

Yeah, I think I'll totally throw my pen down and give up being a writer because I'm a girl, therefore not smarter than any boy on the planet. And dude, what's wrong with me? Why aren't I dating anybody? Obviously, my lack of romantic interest is IMMORAL and the fact I'd rather write about two male hedgehogs getting together completely sets me apart from society. I should be RAISING CHIIIIILDREEEEEN. And if I'm not, it's supposed to be normal to cheat on your husband and sleep with ten billion other men anyway. And I have to listen to what they tell me, I'm not allowed to speak my mind. 'Cause they're Men, God made them first, therefore I'm inferior.

2005, people. 2005. African Americans aren't slaves anymore, and women can wear pants without having people screaming "OMG TABOOOO~!" in the streets. Grow the hell up, we're supposed to think better.

...Sometimes, I wonder what it would be like if I went back in time to visit the Puritans. Let's see how much rucus I could stir with my Gameboys and watch them hang me for "witchcraft" by demonstrating the computer. ;D And ten billion other things...

Of course I avoid the news. :( As I said, I was sitting in my room, and my parents had the volume to the T.V. on loud, and I tried blasting my music to ignore it. :/

True, I know there are a few shows I like. *nod* Just that nowadays with the DVD Age, I'd rather stay at home and watch favorite episodes whenever I felt like it than having to slew through reruns. *shrug*

I think it's not so much the times of it all, I think it's the -nation- that's the problem. The US is pretty far behind in the times in these situations. Geez, compare with the UK and see how many people go to church regularly? Big difference. This country is too darn religious, that's the main problem. Religion still has a big say on how things are dictated and even the President follows the faith strongly and suggests the whole nation do the same. This nation has to 'grow out' of religion enough so that it doesn't dominate our society and brings us to a more level view and understanding of things.

Speaking of religion, check out the Puritans and look what happened to them. :p And there's quite a bit of relgious text that's quite outdated: do we still beat our teenagers when they start rebelling against their parents? Thought not.

Shoot, just today the mayor of Las Vegas (I think) suggested removing the thumbs of serious offenders in casinos and said something along the lines of encouraging parents to whip/paddle their children when necessary o.o;
